Solstice, one of nature’s many subtle and sweet reminders of change, turning points and cycles, like our breath with us always and is the opportunity to take a deep breath and relax into life’s flow. Reminder as we get lost in the holiday buzz, inventory of another year coming to an end when it can become a fertile time of feeding the spirit and nurturing the soul.
Each day becoming shorter, less daylight. Until mid winter. Winter Solstice doesn’t just mark the start of winter but the depth of winter. It’s the longest night of the year, the darkest day followed by a renewal of the sun. Without darkness we would not know light. Complimentary contrasts at their best.
The beauty of this dark time, Winter, is that it’s the time of renewal, ritual and creating meaningful celebrations letting us cultivate a deeper connection to nature, relationships and all the things that matter most to us. Ritual of looking over the past year chock filled with memories, looking inward, lighting our candles, sitting by fires, resting more, sleeping more. Renewing.
Winter solstice heralds a new time. A new season. A turning point. Turning points are opportunities.
