Nina Skowronski LMT, RYT 200
Licensed Massage Therapist, Registered Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master. She has been in private practice since 1998 in Bergen County, NJ and New York.
As a Massage Therapist Nina believes in the body’s innate ability to heal itself and that massage therapy is one of many paths to restoring health and reconnection of the body, mind and spirit. Her bodywork sessions bring together an experienced blend of technical training, intuition and communication that provides treatment-oriented work as well as deep restoration through the use of Swedish, Deep Tissue, PNF, Facilitated Stretching, Reflexology, CranioSacral Therapy, Pre-natal, Oncology, Palliative as well as Reiki.
As a Yoga Teacher Her teaching draws from her classical yoga training and philosophy along with an in depth understanding of the body through her experience within her massage therapy and bodywork practice of 18 years. Her classes are empowering with calming elements blending breath meditation, intelligent sequencing, alignment and emphasizes the importance of classical yoga teachings. Nina completed her training under direction of Raji Thron at Yoga Synthesis. She values cultivating awareness and encourages her students to find inner knowledge in their practice honor where they are to open to their fullest potential. Creating dynamic classes based in Iyengar, Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa and Meditation. She is inspired by the T. Krishnamacharya lineage of yoga and holds deep gratitude for her most influential teachers Raji Thron and Michele Sapanaro. Continually inspired by her students, nature, the poetic expression and function of the human body, life and its offerings.
As a Reiki Master her sessions attend to the physical, spiritual and emotional level of healing and utilizes each person’s innate capacity for self healing by facilitating balance. A Reiki healing session can provide a deep state of relaxation, promote balance, enhance personal and spiritual growth. Reiki practice is safe, and cannot interfere with medical care you may be receiving.
Through Nina’s extensive training and experience, she has a vast understanding of the body’s functional aspects and the imbalances created by stress, disease, trauma and injury. She has a passion for working with a wide range of clients that include adults, children, musicians, athletes, yogis, people surviving terminal illness and those recovering from traumatic injury.
Her practice of yoga, meditation, and holistic health for the past 18 years serves as a foundation for her own centeredness and ability to facilitate a transformative experience of bodywork.
Training and Education After completing the Massage Certification Program in 1998 at Healing Hands Institute for Massage Therapy, the evolution of massage therapy combined with her professional experiences within her clients’ medical conditions inspired Nina to complete the advanced NY Professionals Medical Massage Program. During this program she completed a comprehensive three month hospital externship.
Nina has received intensive training and advanced certification in PNF, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Pre-natal, and CranioSacral Therapy in addition to Oncology, HIV, Hospice and Mastectomy under direction of Tracy Walton and Cheryl Chapman, RN. She received her Reiki Master certification in the Usui System of Reiki Healing at the Kripalu Center, Stockbridge Massachusetts in 2007 under the direction of Libby Barnett, MSW. She has been a professional member of AMTA, American Massage Therapy Association since 1998. Nina received her Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Completing 280 hours of training under Raji Thron of Yoga Synthesis she is a RYT 200 hour with Yoga Alliance.
